Allan Scorah, a good soul, left this world all too soon on March 6th, 2018.
Growing up in Cranbrook, Al was a great athlete, an avid outdoorsman and, as he said himself, a bit of a wild kid. He settled into a successful career in the liquid air and gas industry, eventually operating his own distributorship in Campbell River.
Al met the love of his life, his wife Marian, in 1972, and he embraced the roles of Marian’s loving husband and involved stepfather to her five kids. He and Marian made a wonderful life together, full of travel, socializing with their many friends and, their greatest pleasure, family events with children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
e loved to travel, golf, hike, fish, winter in Palm Springs, and shoot the breeze with whoever he encountered. He and Marian retired early to spend more time travelling, but Marian’s time was cut short by a cruel illness. Al’s tender care during the year of that illness was nothing short of heroic. Trying to live as she would have wanted him to, he got even more involved with his community, joining the Campbell River Rotary and getting enormous satisfaction out of its many contributions.
He was also fortunate in his last two years to find the loving companionship of Corinne Mergaert, which brought him great happiness.
Struggling to face life without him, but encouraged by his example to make the most of every day, are: Al’s children Colin, Greg (Lana), Karen (Bruce), Wendy and Tara (Terry); grandchildren Jessica (Mike), Sabrina, Cathy and Thomas; great-granddaughter Alexis; brothers Milton (Jennifer) and Clay (Brenda); Corinne and her family, and countless friends.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, March 24 at 1:00 at the Maritime Heritage Centre, 621 Island Hwy, Campbell River.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Al’s memory to the Rotary Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
