It is with great sadness that we announce
the passing of Alfred Guderjahn on September 12, 2015 at 9:30 am, in New Horizons
in Campbell River, B.C.
Alfred (Alf) is survived by his loving wife Lynn, his children Bernd (Tia), grandson
Lukas, Barbara, grandchildren( Veronika, Max), Birgit, step children Kevin Vilac(Tara) granddaughter Skylar, Ambur Vilac ( Murray) sister Gretel (Franz Schaffe) of Worringen, Germany, and extended family members in Germany.
Alf was a carpenter, emigrating from Germany in 1957, he worked on the St. Lawrence Seaway on his arrival. Moving to B.C. he worked for many years in Powell River and then moved the family north to the tiny mining town of Cassiar.
A dedicated member of the Lions Club, Volunteer Fire Department in a vibrant community, Alf learned to fly in his 40’s and pursued his dream of being a bush pilot. His many flying adventures are legendary in the region. He moved to Courtenay in the mid 80’s, and moved to Campbell River in 1990 fell in love with the area and never left. His church was being in nature.
He will be remembered by his family and many friends for his wit, ability to put a smile on a face and hearty laughter. Everyone that knew Alf well, loved him. Alf’s best girls were his dogs Sophie & Sadie and he came to like Mika & Yorkie.
The family would like to send heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the
staff at New Horizons in Campbell River.

Campbell River Head Injury at
