Aileen Frances Power
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother and grandmother Aileen on September 3, 2009 at the age of 87. She will be deeply missed and live on in the hearts of her children Sandra, Sheila, Terry (Susanne), Larry (June) and Colleen, her grandchildren Courtney, Whitney and Toni and her many close friends. She was predeceased by her husband Herb and brother-in-law Frank.
Aileen was born in St. John’s Newfoundland on October 30, 1921 and later moved with her husband to Campbell River in 1952 where they raised their family. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother Aileen was an active member of the community and campaigned tirelessly for the Canadian Cancer Society. She spent the last seven years living in the Lower Mainland close to her children.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Royal Arch Masonic Home for their compassionate care and a special thanks to her companion Carol.
A memorial service will be held for her at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 2:00 pm. A reception will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
