Agnes Birchmore

February 22, 2015

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Agnes Birchmore on February 22, 2015 at the Campbell River Hospital.

Agnes was born on June 18, 1937 in Airdrie, Scotland, the daughter of David and Helen Stevenson. She attended school in Coatbridge, Scotland and was an active church member and Sunday School teacher. After completing her schooling, she travelled to Canada where she spent a year working in an office in Vancouver. Upon returning to Scotland, Agnes took a job with Askey's in Airdrie as a costing clerk.

Agnes married Derek Birchmore on Jan. 20, 1959. They had two daughters, Helen and Julie. The family immigrated to Canada in 1967 and undertook the interesting and challenging job of managing the Pine Grove Motel in Campbell River.

Agnes loved to read and was a great story teller, bringing smiles to all who knew her. She was a woman with a big heart who will be sadly missed by many.

Agnes was predeceased by both parents, her brother Tom and her youngest daughter, Julie.

She is survived by her loving husband Derek, eldest daughter Helen (Jim), grandchildren Derek and Christina (Mike), great-grandchildren Farley and Julie, and numerous friends and extended family.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Veerapen for the care and compassion he provided to Agnes throughout her illnesses.

At Agnes' request, there will be no service, and in lieu of flowers and cards, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
