February 29, 1928 ~ October 5, 2015

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Ada Hatfield.  Ada was born in England in 1928 and passed away suddenly at Campbell River Hospital on October 5, 2015.

Predeceased by her husband Hugh (Charlie) Hatfield in 1987; she is survived by her daughter Jill Hatfield, son Michael Hatfield and granddaughter Lindsey Walker.

Ada was raised in a military family and lived in many parts of England and for a short time in Egypt.  She and her husband Charlie immigrated to Canada in 1956. They first landed in Winnipeg but the fear of a Manitoba winter sent them quickly on to Vancouver.  A good job in the forestry industry led them first to Gold River, finally settling in Campbell River. Ada divided her time being a homemaker and an avid tennis player. She developed lifelong friendships forged by fierce competition on the tennis courts. She loved books, travelling to new destinations and keeping her family in line with old fashioned common sense delivered with her dry, sometimes sarcastic wit.

The family would like to thank her long-time neighbours, all her wonderful friends and Home and Community Care for helping Mom live the way she wanted to right up until the end.
