December 9, 1926 - April 29, 2017

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our dad, grandfather and great-grandfather at Evergreen Seniors Home in Campbell River on April 29, 2017.

Al and Elaine raised their family in Winnipeg, Manitoba where Al was a fire fighter with the Winnipeg Fire Department for over 40 years.

In retirement Al and Elaine enjoyed many wonderful winters in Florida and Arizona spending time with friends.

Al enjoyed watching sports, playing golf and Scrabble. He loved to read nonfiction books and doing crosswords and Sudoku. He also loved playing checkers with his grandsons.

Al’s pride was his family. He looked forward to his yearly family reunions that he integrated after Elaine passed. He had a great sense of humor and was a loving father to his children, Gale, Janet (Steven), Rick (Heather), and Rob (Nona). He leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister Evelyn and sisters-in-law Dorothea and Marlene. He was a very generous man and enjoyed any excuse to gather family together for any occasion especially Sunday brunches.

The family would also like to thank the Evergreen staff and nurses who made Dad’s stay for the last 2 years such a pleasant one - it was his home. We will miss him dearly.
