Campbell River RCMP are looking for a suspect vehicle that was involved in a collision with a mother and her infant in a crosswalk around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 23.

The mother was pushing her infant in a stroller across a crosswalk at the corner of 13th Avenue and Dogwood Street when a vehicle struck the stroller, pulling it from her hands and flipping it on its side. The infant sustained minor injuries and the mother sustained injuries to her hand.

The suspect vehicle is described as a four-door, silver Honda, approximately a 2008 model. The driver of the vehicle is described as darker skinned with very short speckled grey hair and wearing dark brimmed prescription sunglasses.

“We are very fortunate that the child and its mother did not receive more serious injuries. Thankfully, the mother had strapped her child into the stroller with its safety buckles," said Const. Sara Clark. "We would like to remind drivers to always be aware of pedestrians as a collision with a pedestrian often results in serious injury, even at low speeds."

The RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the vehicle and the driver, anyone with any information, please contact Campbell River RCMP at (250)286-6221 or CrimeStoppers at 1(800)222-8477.
