With help from Success by Six (BC), the Black Creek Community Association will launch another early-literacy initiative: Read in the Woods.
Take a stroll on the trails at the Black Creek Community Centre, while reading a book on weather-proof story boards. Exposure to literacy materials in children’ early years greatly improves reading and writing skill development. The Read in the Woods trail is easy to access year-round at 2001 Black Creek Rd. The Black Creek Community Association will continue to promote early literacy in it’s initiatives, including ongoing partnership with CVLLA (Comox Valley Lifelong Learning Association) with their lending library, and books that they give out at their special events.
