UPDATE: Arrest made in Campbell River robberies

The Campbell River RCMP arrested and charged Donald Jupp after a robbery at the Mac’s Convenience Store in Campbell River.

Jupp who is 48 years old just recently moved to Campbell River and is now facing three charges of robbery. The Haida Inn Beer and Wine Store was robbed on Saturday, June 10, then the Mac’s Convenience Store was robbed on Tuesday, June 13 and again on Thursday, June 15.

This has been an ongoing joint investigation with Campbell River General Duty members, Street Crimes Unit, Community Response Unit and Crime Stoppers tips. Police issued a request for public assistance in connection with the Haida Inn robbery on Thursday complete with a photo of a suspect that was circulated in the Campbell River Mirror and other Island media.

Cpl. Ron Vlooswyk said, “The arrest was made quickly by police after the third robbery with the help of good witnesses and the Campbell River Police Dog Service.”

Jupp appeared Friday morning in Provincial Court and remains in custody.

Campbell River RCMP expressed their appreciation for the witnesses that came forward during this investigation and Campbell River Crime Stoppers.

“Citizens of Campbell River always play a major role in crime prevention and helping in our criminal investigations,” Cpl. Vlooswyk said.
