Subway robber eludes police dog

Campbell River RCMP are looking for a man who robbed the Dogwood Subway at knifepoint on Friday

Campbell River RCMP are looking for a man who robbed the Dogwood Subway at knifepoint on Friday.

A lone male suspect entered the Subway Restaurant at 220B Dogwood Street around 7 p.m. Friday, produced a knife and demanded money from the clerk.  He took an undisclosed amount of cash from the till and fled on foot, said Cpl. Poppy Hallam of the Campbell River RCMP. The clerk was not injured.

All available police resources attended including the police service dog who located the suspect's track through the parking lot, but was lost. It is believed he had a get-away vehicle or bike, Cpl Hallam said.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, stocky build, wearing blue jeans, a black plain long sleeved sweatshirt, black shoes and black balaclava or hat with bandana with a distinctive purple graphic on the front.

Campbell River Forensic Identification Section is processing the still photographs and they will be posted to Crime Stoppers for help in identifying this male.

If you have any information about this male, call the Campbell River RCMP Detachment or if you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or go onto their website.
