The SRD has created an Active Transportation Network Plan for Electoral Area C.

Getting around will be much easier soon.

The Strathcona Regional District (SRD) has announced the development of the Active Transportation Network Plan (ATNP) for Electoral Area C. It aims to create better transportation options for residents, such as walking, cycling and other modes of transportation.

"Developing an Active Transportation Network Plan is an important step towards creating a safe, accessible, and environmentally friendly transportation network for Area C community members," says Aniko Nelson, senior manager of community services. "Residents are encouraged to participate in future engagement opportunities and share their views on active transportation priorities for the area."

A comprehensive roadmap, the ATNP will show all conditions across Quadra Island and outer communities. Community members can collaborate with the SRC to identify improvements for safety, connectivity and accessibility for all.

Priority projects identified in the ATNP will also help inform the development of a future Master Transportation Plan and update to the Official Community Plan. The ATNP will also guide public investment in active transportation infrastructure throughout Electoral Area C, enhancing access to key destinations such as parks, schools, services and amenities, and neighbouring communities.

To ensure the ATNP reflects the community’s vision, SRD invites residents to get involved in the following ways:

  • Complete an online or paper survey, which will be available starting Oct. 15 and closes Nov. 15, 2024;
  • Attend an in-person or virtual engagement session on Oct. 29, 2024;
  • Share your thoughts via email to planning@srd.ca.
