Small fire northwest of Campbell River out

A small wildfire at Mary Lake approximately 15 kilometres northwest of Campbell River is considered out.

BC Wildfire Service listed the fire as less than a hectare but this morning in a media availability, BC Wildfire Service’s Kimberly Kelly reported that the fire is out.

Meanwhile, further north, a one-hectare fire at Shoal Bay on East Thurlow Island is listed as under control and caused by human activity. The fire began last Friday, June 2.

There is also another fire north of the Shoal Bay fire at Heydon Bay on Loughborough Inlet that is 10 hectares in size and listed as under control. This one is also listed as caused by human activity.

The 208 hectare Newcastle Creek fire near Sayward is still being held and not likely to spread beyond predetermined boundaries under current conditions.
