Fundraiser set to raise more than $600,000 to upgrade Campbell River's Tidemark Theatre’s lighting and online ticket buying

With the cash for the “nuts and bolts” and “bells and whistles” secure, it’s time to think about comfort, says Andy Adams.

The veteran city councillor is an ardent supporter of the Tidemark Theatre and is doing his part for the theatre’s 25th anniversary campaign.

It started with the Adams family buying a $100 brick to support the ambitious upgrade project, and now they have sponsored one of the new theatre seats for $500.

“The capital fundraising still needs to continue to meet the society’s goals and vision to make the Tidemark a first class facility,” he said. “I would like to thank all those who have already contributed, but ask for those who have bought a brick to consider moving up to a chair.”

The anniversary fundraiser set to raise more than $600,000 to upgrade the theatre’s lighting and online ticket buying, to buy a new projection system, and to replace all the old seats.

The “T25 Campaign” has already secured its major funding partners with  $250,000 from the city and $153,000 each from the Island Coastal Economic Trust and the Coast Sustainability Trust.

As well, public donations have brought in more than $95,000. The final touches are the new comfy seats.

“Downtown revitalization has been a key component of my time on council. The Tidemark Theatre is the entertainment centre and anchor to the cultural and arts precinct downtown,” said Adams. “With new seats, new lighting, and system upgrades and enhancements, added to the sound system replacement thanks to the Rotary Club of Campbell River, the future for the Tidemark looks very bright.”

Seat sponsons will be honored by having their name inscribed on the seat. All donors, whether they have purchased a brick or a seat sponsorship, will be formally recognized after the project is complete.

Donations can be made online via Pay Pal at www.tidemarktheatre.com or at our ticket centre. Monthly contributions are also possible. Call 250-287-7465.
