Second armed robbery in a week

Campbell River suffered another armed robbery Monday night.

Two male suspects entered the front lobby of the Anchor Inn sometime before 11:30 p.m. dressed in dark clothing with black hoodies up and bandanas covering their faces, Campbell River RCMP Cpl. Poppy Hallam.

One male had a large knife and the other had bear spray.

"The male with the knife held it up at the clerk and demanded all the money from the till while the other male went into the office to look for cash," Cpl. Hallam said.

The suspects fled with the till drawer and an undisclosed amount of money. The clerk was not injured but shaken up. Campbell River RCMP Victim Services are working with the victim.

The male with the knife was described as Caucasian, 5'9-5'10, 180 lbs

The male with the bear spray was described as possibly Caucasian, 5'9-5'10 and about 170 lbs.

All available RCMP resources responded to the call including the Police Service Dog which tracked the suspects to the area of 3rd Avenue and Thulin Street, but lost the track. The suspects may have had a vehicle near that location.

On Jan. 6 an armed woman held up the Husky gas station around 3:30 a.m. The woman entered the store and produced a black handgun and told the clerk to give her all the money from the till, Cpl. Poppy Hallam said. The clerk had no cash in the till at that hour and told the suspect  The clerk had $5 in her wallet and gave the suspect that. The suspect fled, possibly in a dark coloured sedan. The clerk was not injured.

All available police resources were utilized then, including the Police Service Dog and Campbell River RCMP Major Crime Unit, however the suspect was not apprehended.

That suspect is described as a Caucasian female, 5’1, heavy set and possibly in her late 20’s, early 30’s. She was wearing a dark grey hoodie with the hood up, black sweatpants tight at the ankles or tucked into black boots, blue hair poking out from under her hood, sunglasses, black gloves and a black bandana covering her lower face.
