Search warrants executed in two separate child pornography investigations in Campbell River

Since January 2016, the Campbell River RCMP have executed three search warrants in relation to two separate investigations regarding individuals accessing child pornography through the Internet.

The first investigation resulted in police finding a number of explicit images and videos. Timothy DeCaigny, a 59-year-old resident of Campbell River, has been charged with Possession of Child Pornography, Const. Sara Clark said. This matter is currently before the courts.

In regards to the second investigation on another Campbell River resident, police are in the process of examining a number of items seized during the execution of the search warrant. No charges have been laid in this matter at this time.

“Campbell River RCMP is utilizing all the latest investigative technology and techniques to ensure a thorough investigation is completed. At this time we have no reason to believe there are any victims in our local area,” Const. Clark said.

These investigations are currently ongoing.
