Salmon on the menu at Chamber lunch

The Campbell River Chamber of Commerce will host a luncheon at the Coast Discovery Inn next Thursday

The Campbell River Chamber of Commerce will host a luncheon at the Coast Discovery Inn next Thursday to highlight the importance of salmon aquaculture to the region’s economy.

Jeremy Dunn, executive director of the BC Salmon Farmers Association, will share results of the industry’s economic impact study as well as outline the industry’s growth plans. As well, attendees will be treated to a salmon lunch.

Tickets to attend the luncheon are available at www.campbellriverchamber.ca.  B.C. salmon farmers account for 60 per cent of the total landed value of seafood in B.C., generating more than $1.14 billion towards the provincial economy.

Three of Canada’s largest salmon farming companies are headquartered in Campbell River, as are many of the sectors service and supply companies. For more information, contact Colleen Evans at 250-287-4513.
