The Tyee Club of B.C., with help from a grant from the Pacific Salmon Foundation, was busy last weekend with divers and volunteers cleaning up a portion of the Campbell River Estuary.
In total, 90 tires, 120 bottles, and a wide variety of other items including prawn traps, crab traps, shoes, cell phone, wire cable, plastic, and even a 40’ sailboat were found.
The club says it will take some thought, hard work and co-operation to rid the estuary of this boat.
This is the third year the club has done the clean up and have only “scratched the surface.”
The club is hoping that with further support from the Pacific Salmon Foundation and perhaps other organizations it can continue this into the future.
