POLICE BRIEFS: Theft of food from houseboat interrupted

No surprise: Vehicle with "N" magnet seen driving away after house egged

A houseboat owner at Discovery Marina awoke to a noise on Dec. 30 and found a male inside his houseboat.

The homeowner chased the male out and called police, Cpl. Poppy Hallam said.

The male is described as Caucasian, 5'9 with blonde/brown hair in a short pony tail, wearing a longer than waist length dark leather coat.

Campbell River RCMP forensic identification section attended and processed the scene for evidence. The male had collected food items from the boat and stacked them to take but left with nothing when the homeowner confronted him.

The police are seeking the public's assistance in identifying this male.

No surprise: Vehicle with "N" magnet seen driving away after house egged

Campbell River RCMP received two complaints of houses getting "egged", the first on Dec. 28 at 8:47 p.m. in the 300 block of McCarthy Street.

A small silver car was seen driving away.

Then at 10:30 p.m., a residence in the 3700 block of Valhalla Drive had their house egged and they saw a small silver four-door car with an "N" magnet on the back drive away.

It is believed the two are related and police are seeking the public's assistance to identify the vehicle and occupants involved.
