For the sixth consecutive year, the annual Campbell River Garden Contest is on again

For the sixth consecutive year, the annual Campbell River Garden Contest is on again.

Recent budget cuts at city hall did not affect the annual garden contest. That’s because the Communities in Bloom committee invited the Campbell River Garden Club to take over the annual Campbell River Garden Contest last Fall.  And, thanks to a grant in aid from the Strathcona Regional District this year’s contest will be an event to remember.

This year’s contest has been expanded to include Area D residents and businesses.  Entry is free, and includes prizes as well as an invitation to the awards presentation at the Maritime Heritage Centre.

Categories include:  children and youth gardens, community plots, residential large & small, patio gardens, balconies, business property or street frontage; and multi-residential complexes.

For complete details, you can pick up an entry form at Ladybug Greenhouse, Willows Market, Sticks ‘n Stones Nursery, Campbell River Garden Centre, Sportsplex, Community Centre and the parks office.

The entry form is also available online at www.campbellrivergardenclub.com

The deadline for entry is 4 p.m. on May 25. Judging will take place between June 1-15, and all contest entrants will be invited to attend the awards presentation on July 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the Maritime Heritage Centre.
