The next iteration of Campbell River city council will start their jobs a month earlier than normal.

With the next municipal election set for this coming October – rather than November as was previously the case – those elected will need to meet a month earlier, as well.

Council was previously obliged, under the Community Charter, to meet within the first 10 days of December following an election, but that was when the election was to be held on the third Saturday in November.

Thus, to comply with the new terms in the provincial legislation, the next council will meet on the first Monday of November.

This change has no effect on the city’s staffing or finances.
