Man stabbed in the face

In what police say appears to be a robbery attempt, a Campbell River man suffered a stab wound to the face

A Campbell River man was stabbed in the face Monday evening near 7-11.

Campbell River RCMP attended the 200 block of Dogwood Street at 9:59 p.m. on Monday, April 6 to find a 52-year-old man with a large laceration to his right cheek requiring medical attention.

BC Ambulance Service transported the male to Campbell River General Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Investigators learned the assault occurred on the school grounds of Cedar Elementary School at 261 Cedar Street and the motive behind the stabbing appeared to be robbery.

As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old Campbell River man was identified as the person responsible and on Wednesday at 12:25 p.m. that male was taken into custody and transported to Campbell River RCMP Detachment cells where he remains.

He was expected to make his first appearance in Campbell River Provincial Court on Thursday morning at 9 a.m. to answer to charges of Robbery and Aggravated Assault.
