A 19-year-old man survived a dozen stab wounds Easter Sunday following a fight at an outdoor birthday party.

According to Campbell River RCMP, the victim was at a party with friends at a campsite beside Echo Lake, located west of the city on the Gold River Highway.

In the early morning hours Sunday, the victim got into a confrontation with another man which led to a fight, and he was stabbed 12 times in the torso.

The victim’s friends drove him to Campbell River hospital where he was later airlifted to Victoria and underwent surgery. He is presently in stable condition at Victoria General Hospital.

Police were called to Campbell River hospital at 3:25 a.m. Their investigation led them to a home located in the 4700 block of Argonaut Road where they discovered a 40-plant marijuana grow operation on the property.

They also seized other drugs, firearms and clothing.

One man was arrested. Bradley James Perkins, 23, is charged with aggravated assault and firearms offences.

He was held in custody and was expected to appear in provincial court on Tuesday. Details were not available at press time.
