Man drowns at Campbell River marina

Alcohol believed to be a factor in man's fall into the water

Ambulance attendants were unable to revive a man who fell into the water at Discovery Harbour Marina last night.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. the Campbell River RCMP and BC Ambulance Service responded to a report of a male who had fallen in the water at the Discovery Harbour Marina.

The male was located in the water by his companions and pulled out onto the dock. Medical intervention was unsuccessful at reviving him and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"Alcohol was believed to be a factor in this unfortunate incident," said Staff Sgt. Troy Beauregard of the Campbell River RCMP.

The deceased was not a Campbell River or area resident. His name is not being released at the request of the family. Police along with the BC Coroner’s service continue to investigate.
