Mainstream farms come through unscathed

Mainstream Canada suffered no injuries, no fish escapes and no major damage

Despite one of the most violent storms to hit Vancouver Island in years, Mainstream Canada suffered no injuries, no fish escapes and no major damage to any of the company’s ocean farm sites.

“Thanks to the skill of our employees, and our best management practices, our farm sites weathered the storm without incident,” said Laurie Jensen, Mainstream Canada’s Communications and Corporate Sustainability Manager. The Monday storm rocked most of the coast, with winds reaching up to 137 kilometres per hour. The seas were also rough and there were many hazards in the water, judging by the hundreds of logs littering the shoreline the day after the storm.

Mainstream Canada grows salmon in 27 sea sites near Tofino, Campbell River and Port McNeill.
