RCMP continue to look for suspect in a shooting yesterday near Golden

A civilian report to police of a suspicious vehicle led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the arrest of a wanted man.

The West Kelowna RCMP responded Oct. 14 at 1:42 p.m., to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked with people sleeping inside in the 3600 block of Gellatly Road.

Officers arrived on scene and quickly learned that the white Dodge Caravan had been reported to the Penticton RCMP as stolen on Oct. 13, allegedly taken from a home on Granby Avenue.

“RCMP officers arrested a man connected to the vehicle, believed to be under the influence of an intoxicating substance, who allegedly provided investigators with a false name at the scene,” said Const. Jesse O’Donaghey, in a press release.

“The man was with two other women who were identified by police and released at the scene without charge.”

Investigators managed to positively identify the suspect, as a 20-year-old Kelowna man, who was determined to be wanted on several outstanding unendorsed warrants for his arrest originating from Campbell River and Kelowna. He faces several additional potential charges and was remanded into custody over the weekend.
