Hysterical woman calls police from vehicle

Comox Valley RCMP arrested a man after receiving a 911 call from vehicle travelling from Campbell River

Comox Valley Mounties arrested a man Friday following an alleged assault in vehicle.

According to Const. Don Sinclair, a woman in hysterics called 911 to report she was being assaulted and threatened by a man as they traveled in a vehicle southbound from Campbell River on the Island Highway.

Officers went to their last known location and found the woman and then embarked on a search for the male suspect who is known to the woman.

Sinclair said the search was a "long convoluted trail" that required a police helicopter and dog to finally track down the suspect in a heavily wooded area of the Power House Road area, Courtenay.

The man was taken into custody and no other details have been relesed at this time.
