Foul play ruled out in Engles Road/Island Highway case

Police respond to vehicle south of town, find two bodies inside

Police responded to the 3800-block of South Island Highway at approximately 5:40 p.m. Wednesday night when they received reports indicating two bodies were inside a parked Toyota SUV beside the shore.

RCMP investigation led to the discovery of the bodies of an adult male and a woman inside the SUV. Investigations were then initiated by both the RCMP and the BC Coroner's Service.

The deceased have now been identified as Roy Richard Stotz, aged 54, and Elvira Tagieva, aged 24, both of Campbell River.

Foul play has now been ruled out, but the RCMP and the Coroner's Service continue to investigate the deaths.
