Fire ban in effect as of Saturday

The City of Campbell River enacted its own fire ban as of noon on Saturday, June 27

All open fires are banned in Campbell River, as of 12 noon on Saturday, June 2.

“The Coastal Fire Centre has enacted an open fire ban, and in Campbell River, no open burning will be permitted,” says Fire Chief Ian Baikie. “This ban applies to all recreational fires, including campfires on private lands.”

Baikie advises that the current open fire ban applies to all fires including beach fires below the high tide mark.

“The Campbell River Fire Department appreciates everyone’s assistance to help prevent wildfire in our community,” Chief Baikie adds.
