Getting his feet wet in the federal campaign is environmentalist and broadcaster Dr. David Suzuki who will be in Campbell River tomorrow night.

Dr. David Suzuki, award-winning scientist, environmentalist and broadcaster, will be joining Brenda Sayers, Green Party candidate for North Island – Powell River for a one-of-a-kind town hall event titled “What Kind of Canada do We Want?”

“I really respect the work that Brenda did on the Canada-China FIPA and I have followed her work on the national stage,” said Suzuki, referring to Sayers’ role as the Hupacasath Nation’s portfolio holder for the Canada China Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (FIPA) court challenge against the federal government.

“I am honoured to be joined by Dr. David Suzuki, who has inspired me and many others with his lifelong, tireless efforts on protecting the environment. He has challenged all of us to change our behaviours in this generation for the benefit of future generations,” Sayers said in a press release.

The Suzuki/Sayers town hall will be taking place on Aug. 20 at the Maritime Heritage Centre in Campbell River from 7-9 p.m. Tickets will be $10 at the door.

Attendees will have the opportunity to ask Suzuki and Sayers questions, and engage in a dialogue about the kind of Canada that they want for themselves, their children, and their grandchildren.
