The city will spend nearly $200,000 to replace three vehicles.
Council approved purchasing three mini-dump trucks from Steve Marshall Ford for $195,899, with $186,827.39 of that coming from the city’s Equipment Replacement Reserve.
The city is also expecting to rake in proceeds of $12,500 from the existing vehicles it plans to auction off. Those vehicles to be replaced are two 1997 Ford F450 Mini Dumps used by both the city roads and parks departments as well as one 1995 4x4 Ford F450 Mini Dump used by the roads department. Clinton Crook, the city’s senior buyer, said in a report to council that the vehicles “are critical to the city’s snow and ice management programs. All three vehicles are at the end of their serviceable life.”
Steve Marshall Ford was chosen from among three different companies which bid to supply the replacement vehicles through a Request for Proposals.
“Based on the prescribed evaluation criteria, Steve Marshall Ford received the highest award score of 85.71, offering the city the best overall value of the submitted bids,” Crook said. The highest bid came from Campbell River’s Bill Howich Chrysler at $202,200 with an overall score of 84.58 while Maple Ridge Chrysler came in second with a $199,012 bid and scored 85.71 points.
