Campbell Riverites will get the chance to learn about B.C.’s first Coastal Marine Strategy developed by the province and First Nations this month.
On June 26, an open house will be held at the Maritime Heritage Centre’s Rotary Hall. Representatives from the Ministry of Water, Land and Resources Stewardship and MLA Michele Babchuk will be present to answer community questions.
“The Coastal Marine Strategy is a vital tool being developed, to build resilience in the face of increasing pressures on marine ecosystems, community well-being, and economic stability,” the event page on eventbrite.com says. “The strategy will lay the groundwork for investments that will improve the health and stewardship of coastal ecosystems, improve livelihoods and jobs, support a thriving and climate-resilient coastal economy, and secure the long-term health of B.C.’s coastal marine environment.”
Doors open at 5 p.m., but people are welcome to drop in at any time in the evening. There will be a presentation beginning at 6 p.m. RSVPs are not required, but are encouraged to assist with planning.
