Changing chairs for city advisory commissions

Coun. Larry Samson has stepped down as chair of the City of Campbell River’s Community Services, Recreation and Culture Commission

Coun. Larry Samson has stepped down as chair of the City of Campbell River’s Community Services, Recreation and Culture Commission (CSRCC) and has taken on the role of chair of the City’s Public Safety Sub-Committee. Councillor Ron Kerr is the new chair of the CSRCC.

“I am extremely pleased with the progress made to date by the commission,” says Councillor Samson. “This dedicated group of volunteers has reviewed draft policies and made recommendations that relate to a number of Council priorities, including the Street Entertainer Bylaw, Community Garden Policy and the formation of a Public Safety Sub-Committee.”

“The commission continues to work on a number of priorities, including the Public Art Policy, Legacy Landmark Program and a proposed charter for the Seniors Society,” adds Councillor Ron Kerr, the commission’s new chair.

Priorities for the Public Safety Sub-Committee include: policies, procedures and programs for addressing tagging and graffiti; reviewing and making recommendations related to changes in regulations from Health Canada regarding the commercialization of medical marijuana grow operations; social considerations related to the influx of contractors with the mega projects currently underway in Campbell River.
