Mounties are on the hunt for a man suspected of robbing banks in Comox and Campbell River on Monday.
The first occurred at 9:55 a.m. at the Coastal Community Credit Union in Comox.
According to Comox Valley RCMP, a man wearing a disguise approached a teller, demanded cash and said he had a gun. The robber then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
“Thankfully no one was physically hurt during this robbery. Although no weapon was seen, this does not minimize the incident. We hope to help the staff through this understandably upsetting experience.” said Const. Dean Biollo in a news release.
The second robbery occurred around 2:15 p.m. at the Bank of Montreal on Shoppers Row in downtown Campbell River.
According to police, a lone man entered the bank, demanded money from the teller and then fled with some cash.
In both cases, the robber was wearing dark clothing and aviator-style sunglasses.
Comox Valley RCMP described the man as about 5’10” with a slim build.
During the Comox robbery, he was wearing jeans, a black coat with the hood up, a dark grey scarf around his face and sunglasses.
As of Tuesday morning, no arrest had been made. Anyone with information is asked to call RCMP or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
