The Campbell River RCMP responded to a report of two males brandishing a handgun on the 1400 block of Island Hwy. on Monday afternoon.

Due to the quick thinking of a member of the public, the two males were located inside Walmart.

They were immediately identified and taken safely into custody without incident.

“The weapon seized was later found to be a pellet gun.” said Cpl. Ron Vlooswyk of the Campbell River Detachment. “At a glance, would you be able to identify the real gun from the imitation?”

The matter is still under investigation. Weapons charges will be recommended to the Crown.
