Campbell River garbage collection delayed due to heavy snowfall

Areas expected to have garbage and recycling to be picked up today are asked to put it out again tomorrow

Monday’s curbside garbage and recycling collection has been delayed due to the heavy snowfall in Campbell River.

Curbside collection contractor Emterra Environmental will resume collection from those homes missed during the snowfall event, as soon as the weather permits.

“We are unable to continue collection today due to the heavy snowfall we are receiving. We intend to resume collection from the areas that were missed tomorrow, weather permitting,” Jo-Ann McAllister, Emterra Environmental’s Island Office Manager, said in a press release.

The areas where Monday’s garbage collection has been delayed include Argonaut Road and Croation Road, and recycling in the following areas: Cottonwood to Hilchey, Alder to Island Highway, Galerno to Island Highway, Hilchey to Westgate and the waterside of the Island Highway from Hilchey north. Residents in these areas are advised to place their missed garbage or recycling at the curbside on Tuesday, Feb. 25.

If heavy snowfall persists throughout the week, preventing the trucks from picking up curbside garbage and recycling, Emterra says that residents will receive collection on the next available day after conditions improve and areas are safe for drivers to resume collection.
