Saturday’s province-wide blitz resulted in five motorists being charged with impaired driving offences under the criminal code.
One of those was from Campbell River.
Local Mounties were among 97 detachments across B.C. who took part in the blitz to nab drivers under the influence of alcohol.
A total of 32,877 motorists were stopped resulting in:
- Five impaired driving charges.
- 104 immediate roadside prohibitions for 90 days with 30 vehicles impounded.
- 94 warn results.
- 17 roadside suspensions for drugs.
In Campbell River, along with the one impaired driver, two others were given 90-day roadside prohibitions.
“As always, in order to ensure the safety of all on our roads, the holiday season will result in increased road checks for impaired drivers,” said Staff Sgt. Troy Beauregard.
