The RCMP responded to more than 230 calls for assistance last week including 14 crimes against persons, another 26 property crimes and one impaired charge.

On Saturday, at 9:26 p.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Merecroft and Alder.  A 40-year-old Courtenay male operating a Pontiac Sunfire was eastbound on Merecroft when he failed to stop at Alder. He entered the intersection and struck a southbound Dodge Caravan operated by a Campbell River man. Three people were transported to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.  The operator of the Sunfire was issued a ticket for failing to stop.

On Friday at 10:19 a.m., RCMP found a driver slumped over the wheel of a vehicle on Glenmore Road. Police found a 48-year-old female who admitted to taking a variety of prescription and non-prescription drugs. The driver was found to be impaired by a drug and charges of Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle are being recommended.
