New members announced for city advisory commissions

Campbell River City Council has appointed members to serve on its two new advisory commissions.

The Community Services, Recreation & Culture Commission will include Councillors Kerr, Samson and Storry and the following members of the public: Shannon Baikie, Richard Boehm, Erica Chan-Lafrance, Cal Grunerud, Stacey E. Larson, Craig Massey, Sid Shook, Kim Stevens and Jeanette Taylor

The Community Services, Recreation & Culture Commission will provide policy advice and recommendations to City Council about City parks, recreation and culture services, early childhood development, seniors and youth programs, community support services, organized sports, visual arts, performing arts, heritage conservation, outdoor recreation, community beautification and community safety.

The Advisory Planning & Environment Commission will include Councillors Adams, Mennie and Moglove and the following members of the public: Kira DeSorcy, Vanessa Hamer, Melissa Kirk, Stacey Larsen, Dale Mailman, Richard Stephens, William Wagner, Helen Whitaker and Steve Woods.

The Advisory Planning & Environment Commission will provide policy advice and recommendations to City Council on issues related to long-range planning such as the Official Community Plan, land use and development planning, permitting and development application processes, transportation planning and environmental and sustainability issues.

“Members of both commissions will attend a Feb. 26 orientation session that will officially launch the volunteers in their new duties as members of Council’s go-to teams who’ll help build an even better Campbell River,” say City Clerk Peter Wipper.
