Autopsy results awaited in woman’s death

The 33-year-old resident of Kingcome Inlet was found dead Friday morning

Investigators were expecting autopsy results Tuesday in the death of Elizabeth Lagis.

The 33-year-old resident of Kingcome Inlet was found dead Friday morning in a ditch off the Inland Island Highway, 1.5 kilometres south of Hamm Road in Black Creek.

According to police, Lagis had come to Campbell River for medical appointments on March 6-7, and was staying at the Town Center Inn. She showed up for the first-day appointments, and spoke to family that night by phone, but never made it to her appointments on March 7. She was reported missing by Campbell River RCMP on Friday morning. Shortly later, her body was spotted by a passing motorist. Police are saying little else about the case, but are asking for the public’s assistance.

If anyone witnessed anything unusual on the highway, or saw Lagis, they should contact the RCMP at 250-286-6221 or Crime Stoppers. Watch for updates at www.campbellrivermirror.com
