MNP is celebrating its 20th anniversary in Campbell River with a move to a new, more convenient waterfront location at Discovery Harbour Shopping Centre.

Campbell River’s economy is evolving and diversifying. And while the community continues to transform, MNP remains committed to growing alongside it – as they have since arriving here in 2003.

MNP combines the accounting, business consulting and tax service expertise of a nationwide firm with a personable local focus. This allows local advisors to scale tailored solutions up or down for anyone – from the city’s bedrock forest and fisheries sector to start-ups navigating payroll demands at tax time.

“That national scope with a local approach and local relationships is really important and it’s something we take a lot of pride in,” says James Byrne, Regional Managing Partner for MNP’s Vancouver Island region.

Myriah Foort, one of three partners at the Campbell River office, started her career at MNP then spent nine years in financial management roles within local government. In 2022, she came home to MNP to help lead the company’s continued growth. She says the move to a new location is a fresh start for staff and confirmation of the firm’s commitment to the residents, entrepreneurs and business owners of Campbell River and the North Island.

“We’re very excited about the move, as excited as accountants can be,” Myriah says. “All of us live and work in the community, and we have our fingers on the pulse of what’s happening locally and also on any new opportunities and challenges there might be.”

Rooted in community, committed to success

As an avid Rotarian, a board member with the Campbell River Arts Council and treasurer of several Parent Advisory Councils, Myriah embodies MNP’s strong belief in giving back and being a good neighbour.

She brings this same personal touch and commitment to her small and medium-sized business clientele.

Thoughtful and attentive client interactions can have profound results. Myriah recalls her first meeting with the new owner of a franchise that was growing rapidly. That’s a good problem to have, however as a new business owner she was overwhelmed.

“We went from our first meeting when she considered closing her business, to a year later where she’s ahead of all the tax instalments and the filings are up to date,” explains Myriah, adding that she now meets with the client for regular check-ins.

A partner for every business journey

Myriah and her fellow MNP partners, Stuart Wise and Marcel Moose, each have their areas of specialty, but all share the core values of community connection and excellent service.

“We want to see our clients succeed because they’re our neighbours, friends, people we see at activities, and fellow parents dropping their kids off at school,” says Stuart, a long time MNP business advisor who focuses on forest industry clients.

Marcel works mostly with professionals, such as dentists and doctors, who are highly trained in their fields but less so in the nuts and bolts of running a clinical business. Marcel and the MNP team provide key accounting and business support so these professional clients can concentrate their time where it’s needed – caring for their patients.

“The experience of working with a young professional right from the time they’re doing their schooling all the way through the life cycle of their career is very rewarding,” Moose says. “You become that person’s trusted advisor for their whole career.”

Belonging to the community and helping it grow and thrive is a big part of the MNP ethos. With a new office on the waterfront, MNP’s future in Campbell River looks brighter than ever. “When we can help our clients succeed, then the larger picture of Campbell River succeeds as well,” Stuart says. “With this move, we’re excited to deepen our roots in this community.”
