The Campbell River Storm have announced they have traded the rights to Levente Birta to the Westshore Wolves.
The Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL) teams made the deal on Feb. 11.
"The Storm wish to thank Levente for his hard work and dedication to the club and wish him the best in his future endeavours," said the Storm's trade announcement post on Facebook.
Birta, a forward, has been a strong presence for the Storm. The Hungarian scored 32 points in his 40 games with the Storm. His form caught the attention of the Powell River Kings of the British Columbia Hockey League, who called him up for two games this season.
The 2024-25 season was Birta's debut season in the VIJHL and his first in Canadian hockey. He started his career with Sportorszâg SC in his native country before moving to the Lund Giants in Sweden, where he played for their U16, U18 and U20 teams. During his time with the Giants, he made his debut with the Hungarian National U16 team during the 2021-22 season, where he appeared in 11 games and scored seven points. Following this, he ventured to North America, joining the Northern Cyclones, a team based in New Hampshire. He was only with the Cyclones for a year before joining the Elite Hockey Academy for the 2024-24 season. He was also playing for the New Jersey Rockets of the United States Premier Hockey League, where he scored 21 points in 27 games.
