A wildfire that grew to four hectares southwest of Campbell River was listed as under control as of 6:30 p.m. on June 11.
As of Thursday (June 12) morning, there are nine firefighters responding to this wildfire, which was discovered burning out of control on June 9, according to the BC Wildfire Service.
The fire is suspected to be human caused and is under investigation. There are no current restrictions near the area.
"There are many human activities that could lead to a new fire start, and we urge everyone in B.C. to review and adhere to current prohibitions and restrictions for their area and follow all local bylaws," said Sarah Budd, fire information officer with B.C. Wildfire Service.
Currently in the Coastal Fire Centre, Category 3 open fire is prohibited, and Category 2 open fire is prohibited throughout the fire centre, excluding the Haida Gwaii Forest District.
Category 1, or campfires, are currently permitted in the Coastal Fire Centre. However, these campfires must be less than half a metre by half a metre in size.
