The Strathcona Regional District is seeking public feedback on a proposed bylaw to establish a wood debris removal service for Electoral Area D.
The bylaw will likely be adopted on Feb. 19, unless 10 per cent of residents submit elector response forms by noon on Feb. 12, says the regional district.
In the past, the regional district has applied for funding for the curbside wood debris chipping service when it was available under the Community Resiliency Investment grant program.
Previously, all properties with road access were allowed to place an unlimited amount of wood debris at the end of their driveways that was collected by the regional district. The service has been popular with residents, chipping roughly 75 tons of wood debris annually.
Since the grant program cannot be reliably received each year, the regional district is asking residents whether they want an established service when grant funding is unavailable.
More information about the bylaw or the regional district's alternative approval process is available at www.srd.ca/area-d-wdrs.
