The Sayward Futures Society has been awarded funding through British Columbia’s Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program (REDIP) to support the enhancement of the Kelsey Bay Wharf.

This investment will enable critical upgrades to the wharf, ensuring its continued role as a vital hub for marine activity, tourism, and community engagement in the Sayward region. The improvements aim to bolster local economic development, support sustainable infrastructure, and enhance the visitor experience.

“The Kelsey Bay Wharf is more than just a dock—it’s a cornerstone of our community,” said Jason Johnson, chair of the Sayward Futures Society. “This funding will help us preserve and enhance this essential asset for residents, visitors, and local businesses alike.”

The REDIP initiative, administered by the Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation, provides financial support to rural communities for projects that promote economic diversification, resilience, and clean growth opportunities.

The Sayward Futures Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to the sustainable operation of the Kelsey Bay Wharf and other community initiatives, looks forward to collaborating with local stakeholders to implement the planned enhancements.
