The Beaver Lodge Trust Society is urging the public to lookout for garbage after a pile of litter was found in the Beaver Lodge Lands near the McPhedran Road parking lot on Jan. 13.
The social media post says it is not known if the garbage was dumped by an individual or if a bear dragged a bag of garbage away from one of the homes located near the lands.
"Regardless, this is a very unfortunate and unacceptable occurrence," reads the post. "If anyone notices anyone dumping garbage in the Beaver Lodge Lands, please report it immediately to the Ministry of Forests."
It is the public's responsibility to ensure that garbage collection containers are secured and inaccessible to wildlife, the society says.
Illegal dumping should be reported to the BC Conservation Officer Service through the Report All Poachers and Polluters (RAPP) – Environmental Protection & Sustainability Forms. The phone number is 1-877-952-RAPP (7277).
