Diwali is the most significant and widely celebrated festival of the year in India

Campbell Riverites gathered to celebrate Bhai Dooj, the fifth day of Diwali, at the Guru Nanak Sikh Society on Friday (Nov. 1) evening.

Also called the Festival of Lights, Diwali celebrates the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. The major multi-day festival is observed globally by many communities, including Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains. 

Diwali, also known as Dipawali, is the most significant and widely celebrated festival of the year in India.
