Family and friends gathered in Campbell River's downtown to celebrate Halloween on Thursday (Oct. 31).
There were plenty of chances for trick-or-treating. At the Vancouver Island Regional Library, books replaced candy, thanks to a collaboration between the library, the Altrusa Club, and the Literacy Association. About 1,500 free new books were given out said Jan Wade, executive director of the Campbell River Downtown Business Association.
One of the downtown business association's signature event, it also included RCMP officers who were present to distribute candy.
