A boat and trailer stolen in Gold River this summer were recovered by RCMP following a multi-jurisdictional investigation.

On June 27, Nootka Sound RCMP received a report of a stolen boat and trailer which were stored in the 500 block of Industrial Park Pl. in Gold River. No suspects were identified at the time.

On Aug. 22, new information surfaced about the possible location of the stolen boat and trailer. A search warrant was obtained to search a property in the 7000 block of Osborne Bay Rd. in Duncan.

On Aug. 23, West Shore RCMP Crime Reduction Unit assisted the North Cowichan RCMP detachment by executing the search warrant and eventually recovered the stolen boat and trailer and returned it to its rightful owner.

“The prompt sharing of information between RCMP investigators from different detachments and re-allocation of police resources played a key role in the evolution of this investigation,” says Cpl. Alex Bérubé, spokesperson for the RCMP in British Columbia.

West Shore RCMP Crime Reduction Unit has now taken over the investigation.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264.
