The City of Campbell River is seeking public input on the upcoming five-year strategic plan for the Campbell River Airport.

“The 2024-2029 Strategic Plan builds on the foundation laid by the 2016 Master Plan and updates goals and objectives for the Campbell River Airport,” said Dennis Brodie, the airport manager, in a media release on Sept. 12. “It is important that we incorporate the community’s ideas in the finalized draft plan for Council’s consideration. We hope you will join us for engaging conversations with other residents at one of the upcoming sessions.”

Mayor Kermit Dahl said improving and streamlining operations at the Campbell River Airport was one of the key reasons he decided to run for council.

“The five-year strategic plan will guide the future of the Campbell River Airport for years to come and it is important that we hear from residents and consider their vision when finalizing this document. I invite everyone to attend one of these sessions to talk with City staff, council and consultants, learn about the airport and get involved in the future of YBL," he said.

The City, in partnership with IPSOS Inc. and Pat Maloney Consulting, will host the community sessions. Participants will engage in themed discussions designed to gather community feedback. This will include exploring ways the airport can better serve residents, businesses, and visitors, as well as how the airport and its surrounding land can enhance Campbell River’s economy.

The feedback collected at the engagement sessions will be presented, along with recommended edits to the draft strategic plan, for council’s consideration in November.

The sessions will take place on Sept. 23 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Campbell River Airport Terminal Building and Oct. 3 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Campbell River Community Centre.
