Campbell River releases draft budget proposing 3.39 per cent tax hike

The City of Campbell River proposes a tax hike of 3.39 per cent in 2025, resulting in an estimated annual increase of $81 for the average homeowner. 

The City of Campbell River has released a draft of its 2025 to 2034 financial plan, with the council set to discuss and finalize it on Tuesday (Dec. 3.)

The draft budget proposes a tax hike of 3.39 per cent in 2025. If approved, it would result in an estimated annual increase of $81 for the average homeowner, according a Nov. 28 media release from the city. 

"The draft plan, which was created by staff under the guidance and leadership of council, aims to balance fiscal responsibility with maintaining the core services that residents rely on every day and driving forward council’s strategic priorities," says the city. 

The city is urging the public to review the draft budget and provide written comments ahead of the meeting, which begins at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 3. There is also an option to present feedback during the meetings. 

The deadline for written comments is Monday (Dec. 2) at noon. Comments must be submitted via email to info@campbellriver.ca or in person at city hall.

Presenters must be available at the start of the meeting and will be called in the order that they appear on the sign-up list, says the city.
